Located on a sloping site in the Skyline Forest area of Monterey, this two-story home is nestled into the tree covered hillside and captures distant views of the Bay. Reminiscent of mid-century modern homes, the horizontal wood clad forms are grounded by a stucco base and vertical entry volume. Stucco planter walls at the street rhythmically step down the slope and lead to the wood clad entry. On the downhill side offset, cantilevered decks lead to a ground level patio.
At the upper level, the roof plane floats above a band of clerestory windows, providing a tall and open volume. A band of bifolding doors opens onto the living room deck, further expanding the space.
